Paint Touch Up Tip - Simply Genius

Saturday, November 15, 2014

When you paint your walls (or when you hire a painter to paint your walls), fill an empty nail polish bottle with the paint so you have the color ready for touch ups in the future if need be.  This DIY idea is so easy,  and will save you a lot of trouble in the future when you have nail holes or marks on your wall.

What You Need

1.  Paint

2. An empty nail polish bottle.  We purchased ours at a beauty supply store, but you can just empty out an old nail polish bottle and clean it out with nail polish remover.

3.  A syringe, you can get them at your local pharmacy.

The Easy Steps

Take the syringe and fill it with your paint color.

Take the paint filled syringe and slowly push the paint into the empty nail polish bottle.  Make sure you do this over paper in case any paint misses the bottle.

Now that you have your paint in the nail polish bottle.  Make sure you write the name of the color on the bottom, and what room the paint is used in.  This paint color is used on the walls in our whole house, so we just wrote house.
.

By doing these easy steps while you already have your paint out, when you have paint touch ups in the future there will be no need to pry open an old can of paint and stir.  All you will need to do is shake your paint filled nail polish bottle and brush on the wall.
We hope you like our paint touch up tip.

DIY Leaf Mason Jars

Monday, October 6, 2014

 Happy Monday!

It seems like there are endless way to use mason jars. Here is a really fun idea from planprovision.com for a simple fall decoration or for use at a fall wedding or rehearsal dinner table.

Gather up fall leaves from your backyard or from a local park. Artificial leaves from your local craft store will work too. Use Mod Podge to adhere (decoupage) the leaves to mason jars. You can use any size, but be sure you can insert a candle. Real candles or led candles will work to give a soft glow and fall feel to any tablescape.

Thanks to planprovision for the detailed instructions and photos.

FREE Monogram Designer

Sunday, April 27, 2014

Interested in making your own monogram for your personal stationery or even your wedding? Check out Mark and Grahams FREE monogram maker that makes it super easy.

Monogramming is great way to personalize your items.  There are a lot of different designs and ways you can choose to monogram something, but here are the basic guidelines.

If you are doing a three-letter monogram with all three letters the same size, the initials should go in the same order as the name.

If you are doing a three letter monogram with the middle letter larger than the other two, the larger middle letter should be the initial of the last name.  The first initial will be first and the middle initial would be last.  (The first initial and middle initial will be the same size).

If you are monogramming for a couple you would place the woman's first initial, followed by the couple's last initial slightly larger, followed by the man's first initial (the same size as the woman's first initial)

Get started creating your own monograms by clicking here  http://www.markandgraham.com/resources/mark-it-guide/monogram-maker.html
